石﨑朝子・小林このみによる2人展。
小林は、物語に満たないような小さな話から、想像をかきたてるように作品を制作するアーティストであり、石﨑は、風景を見たときに感じた妙なリアリティを表現することから出発して、彫刻・映像・パフォーマンスを用いて制作活動を行っている。
展示企画に先立って共同で行った、会場のある渋谷のリサーチにおいて、小林は飼い犬のしっぽがヤシの木に似ていることが最近の関心であると語り、「○○にみえる」というような見立てを探すのに対して、石﨑は環境のノイズ的なエレメントや急勾配の坂や、入り込めるかかギリギリの隙間など身体と共に街に着目する。
道中の両者の眼差しはごち ゃ混ぜであり、まさにスクランブルな経験である。
本展は、風景の中にヤシの木的な見立てを探す小林と、スケートボーダーが路上でトリックをする場を見つけ出すように、身体感覚を伴うスポットを探す石﨑の2人による、バラバラなアクションをしかけながらも、どこか混じりあうような2人のムーブを展開する場となった。

《Palm Tree Moves》

A two-person exhibition by Asako Ishizaki and Konomi Kobayashi.
Kobayashi is an artist who creates works from small stories that are less than stories to stir the imagination, while Ishizaki’s work starts from expressing the strange reality she feels when she sees a landscape, and she uses sculpture, video, and performance in her creative activities.
In their joint research of Shibuya, where the exhibition is to be held, prior to the planning of the exhibition, Kobayashi mentioned his recent interest in his dog’s tail resembling a palm tree, and searched for ways to make it “look like a ____,” while Ishizaki focused on the noisy elements of the environment, steep slopes, and gaps just barely accessible to the body. Ishizaki focuses on the city and its noisy elements of the environment, steep slopes, and gaps that are just barely accessible.
The two artists’ eyes are jumbled together along the way, making for a truly scrambled experience.
Kobayashi searches for palm tree-like features in the landscape, while Ishizaki searches for spots that involve physical sensations, like a skateboarder finding a place to do tricks on the street.
