Bent pipe clamp
2025年より始まったプロダクトデザインイベントalter. をきっかけに写真家 川谷光平、彫刻家 石﨑朝子、キュレーター 原ちけいによって制作された実験的プロダクト。
これはクランプ機構によって抑え板が昇降され、台の上においた物を挟み固定することができる。目的に応じてディスプレイスタンドや収納家具にもなり、使う人それぞれが使い方を考えるよう設計されている。
川谷の写真家としての関心、モノが静止画でしか存在しえない状況で存在していることを起点に始まったこのプロジェクトは立たないものを立たせ、置かれた物にこれまでとは表情を与える。
何をここに立たせたいかと周囲を見渡すことは使う人の視点に変化を与え、写真家やアーティスト的な視点をなぞるような経験を与える。
既存のプロダクトデザインの枠組みに囚われないこのプロダクトは、直線的な機能性や合理性の美学とは異なり、考え工夫することの楽しみを提案している。
An experimental product created by photographer Kohei Kawatani, sculptor Asako Ishizaki, and curator Chikei Hara, inspired by the launch of the product design event alter. in 2025.
The object employs a clamp mechanism that raises and lowers a pressure plate, allowing it to grip and secure items placed on the base. Depending on how it is used, it can function as a display stand or a piece of storage furniture—its design invites each user to discover their own way of using it.
Originating from Kawatani’s photographic interest in how objects exist only as still images, the project explores what it means to make the unstandable stand, and to give new expressions to things once merely placed.
Looking around to decide what to stand here shifts the user’s perspective, offering an experience akin to that of a photographer or an artist.
Unbound by the conventional frameworks of product design, this work proposes a different kind of pleasure—one found not in linear functionality or rational aesthetics, but in the act of thinking, improvising, and inventing.

1992年生まれ、写真家。東京を拠点に活動。商業的プロジェクトと作品制作という両軸を横断し、交差的な活動を展開している。日本の文化や価値観の特殊性に注目し、商業的なイメージの引用や人工的なモチーフを用いた作品を発表している。KASSEL DUMMY AWARD 2020で最優秀賞を受賞し、受賞作の写真集『Tofu-Knife』を出版。主な個展に「Tofu-Knife」(SKWAT twelvebooks/warehouse、東京、2021)があり、主なグループ展には「BOOK_SPACES」(Museum Für Fotografie Braunschweig, ドイツ, 2023)、「Boogie Woogie Art Museum」(蔚山アートミュージアム、韓国、2023)がある。

石﨑朝子 Asako Ishizaki
彫刻家
ストリートのリアリティから出発した表現をテーマに、彫刻・映像・パフォーマンスを用いて制作活動を行う。 2023年武蔵野美術⼤学⼤学院修⼠課程彫刻コース 修了。 渋谷の坂と身体の関係をモチーフにした《City Angle》(2021）、スケーターやグラフィティライターによる街へのアクションから連想した《トレーシング・シティ》（2022-23)など、都市空間の漂流で得たリアルな経験を通して、都市の他なる視点を再構築する作品を発表している。近年の主な活動に「ATAMI ART GRANT 2024」 （熱海市内,静岡県,2024）、「P.O.N.D.2023 Dialogue／あたらしい対話に、出会う。」（PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO,東京,2023）、「しじし」(CON_ ,東京,2022）などがある。https://asako-ishizaki.com
