「ロード・サーキュラー・セル」シリーズは、静岡県熱海市で開催された地域芸術祭「ATAMI ART GRANT 2024」で発表された《CITY OF A/M/P》の制作過程で生じた残材を活用した作品です。作品の価格は一万円を基準とし、その重量に応じて変動します。この重量比価格は、東京都の廃棄物処理費用の比率を参考に、1g単位で加算される仕組みです。
タイトルに含まれる「ロードセル」は、トラックやコンテナの重量を測定するために使用されるセンサー装置を指します。作品の元となった《CITY OF A/M/P》では、木材、金属、セメントといった一般的な建築資材が使用されました。これらの建材は首都圏を中心に大量消費される一方で、大量の廃棄物も生じます。その多くはトラックで地方へと運ばれ、東京以外の地域で最終的に処分されます。熱海も例外ではなく、都心から埋立用の土砂や残土が持ち込まれてきた歴史があります。（2021年の熱海市土石流災害は、首都圏からの建築残土の盛土によるものとされています。）
「ロード・サーキュラー・セル」は、こうした東京を軸とした廃棄物の流れを逆転させる試みです。熱海で制作・展示した彫刻の残材を都市へと逆流させ、東京の地で拡散（≒処分）させることを目指します。再生や廃棄を繰り返す都市のパーツが風景を循環するように、地方を出発点とした作品が都市へ流れ込み、さらに新たな場所へとたどり着くプロセスをパッケージングする作品です。

The “Load Circular Cell” series is an artwork created using leftover materials from the production of CITY OF A/M/P, which was exhibited at the regional art festival ATAMI ART GRANT 2024 held in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The price of each piece is based on 10,000 yen and fluctuates according to its weight. This weight-based pricing system is modeled after the waste disposal cost ratio in Tokyo, with charges calculated per gram.
The term “load cell” in the title refers to a sensor device used to measure the weight of trucks and containers. The production of CITY OF A/M/P involved materials such as wood, metal, and cement, which are commonly used in construction. These materials are heavily consumed in the Tokyo metropolitan area for the development of roads and skyscrapers, but they also generate a substantial amount of waste. Much of this waste is transported by truck to rural areas for final disposal outside of Tokyo. Atami has not been exempt from this pattern, with landfill soil and construction waste brought in from urban areas. (The landslide disaster in Atami City in 2021 was attributed to embankments created with construction waste from the Tokyo metropolitan area.)
The “Load Circular Cell” series seeks to reverse this flow of waste centered on Tokyo. The aim is to send the leftover materials from sculptures produced and exhibited in Atami back to the city, where they are disseminated (or essentially disposed of) in Tokyo. Just as the components of a city are continually regenerated and discarded, circulating through various landscapes, this work encapsulates a process in which an artwork originating in a rural area flows into the urban environment and eventually arrives at new destinations.
